Q. I bought such-n-such outfit in the past for standard SL avatars. Now it’s available for mesh body, can i get the mesh body update?

A. No you can’t. It’s not an update, it is a different version – the one for mesh bodies – and both versions will now be sold separately. If you previously bought this outfit for standard SL avatar and want to have this outfit also in mesh body size, you will have to buy the mesh body version, too.

Q. Will you make outfits that fit X/Y/Z mesh body? Will you update *** outfit with a X/Y/Z mesh body size?

A. General rule:
1) If meshes for an outfit are original meshes made by me they will only be available for Maitreya LaraX & Legacy. If the rigging is not too complicated, there might also be Reborn, OG Maitreya Lara & Meshbody Classic. For accessories there may also be Belleza Freya. If the outfit is too detailed it will only be made for Maitreya LaraX.
2) If i use full perm meshes for an outfit, they might be available for those mesh bodies that the original FP creator offers them. Sometimes i put together an outfit with mesh parts made by different creators that all work with different mesh bodies. In that case the outfit will not be complete for all mentioned mesh bodies, and some parts will be missing for some mesh bodies.
3) If i make a mesh body update for an older CO outfit, it will only be for Maitreya LaraX, Legacy and/or Reborn.
CONCLUSION: I keep an eye on what are the current top 3 most popular mesh bodies on the grid. So this list might change in the future. Always check the full description in the listing on Marketplace, or the relevant blogpost on this blog, for what is exactly included and which mesh part is available for which body!! The description will always tell you what exactly is there and for which body. If you have a particular CO outfit in mind that you would really like to see updated for a certain mesh body, you can send me an IM with suggestion, who knows i might consider it 😉

Q. Will you be offering Omega appliers for your skins and older outfits?

A. Sorry, i don’t do omegas. 😦 I tried several times looking into it, followed tutorials on Omega website, but i have no idea how to build a HUD that would handle several textures at the same time. Now that bakes on mesh has gone live, there should be no need anymore of Omega appliers anyway, as far as i understand it. If there is a mesh body version/update of an old outfit that doesn’t include original clothing layers and/or alphas, you can send me a request to include it for you.

Q. Where can i buy these items?

A. All these items are made for Second Life™ in Second Life™. So they are only available there, in-world. Well, technically you can also buy Caverna Obscura items online (via SL Marketplace website) but the items will be delivered in Second Life™. You can learn more about Second Life™ HERE. Q. Why so expensive?

A. Really, it’s not! For the quality Caverna Obscura provides, it is really not expensive at all! I constantly keep an eye on the market and try to keep my prices in the middle range. Also, the prices are rather towards the lower end, because for the amount of work, imagination, skills, effort and time i put in my work i could have easily asked twice as much, but i try to keep the prices the lowest possible.

Q. What are permissions of the items you sell?

A. All my older prim/sculpts items and unrigged mesh parts are copy/mod/no trans. All my clothing layers items, tattoo layers and skins are no mod/ copy/no trans. Older rigged mesh is usually no mod / copy / no trans. That was done because i used to believe in the past that this would be better for my creations. However, since then i have changed my mind and all the newer meshes come out as copy / mod / no trans. Usually I don’t like to go back to an older outfit and waste my time on redoing something when i don’t feel there is a need for it, so those outfits that were previously released as no mod will likely remain so. Best would be to check the MP listings for the relevant info, as it always tells you exactly what is included and what perms it has.

Q. How can I buy a Caverna Obscura item as a gift?

A. I am very sorry but right now the only way to buy a Caverna Obscura item as a gift is via SL Marketplace website (link on the right side of this page).

Q. Do you do custom fitting?

A. Usually i don’t. But i’m glad to help you with advice, especially if you’re new to SL. If you really cannot fit an item you bought at Caverna Obscura, i even can send you a modifiable shape for free so that you could use it as a reference, or give it your own face f.ex. and wear it with the outfit. So if you like the idea don’t hesitate to contact me 😉 On some special occasions i even might do custom fitting myself for you, but then there must be a really good reason for that. Oh, and have i mentioned i prefer very nice and friendly people? 😉

Q. I bought an outfit from you but there are flowers (bows, spiders etc.) on it, can you remove them for me?

A. All non-mesh prim attachments and unrigged mesh are modifiable so that you can link, unlink, recolor, retexture, resize or script any part yourself. Please don’t ask me to do that for you, i won’t. I will not be redoing the textures, or prim design: i have designed it once the way it is for a reason, and i won’t be redoing it without a very very good reason. Suggestions are welcome though, but without any promises or obligations.

Q. Do you make custom outfits?

A. It depends. I certainly welcome creative ideas! If i like your idea and feel it might really work well, i will put it on my list. It usually means it will take weeks and sometimes even months (depending on the difficulty, time in-world and size of the list) before it comes out. And when it does, be prepared that i will be selling this item in my store after that. But you will even get a discount for your original idea! 😉 If you want an exclusive item that only you will have and nobody else, i will have to disappoint you that i won’t do such things, not even for L$100000. There is only one condition i would make an exclusive custom outfit: if you know a good way to promote and advertise my store and will do it for me in return. Think blogs, good reviews on popular sites or some other good publicity.

Q. Where do you get sculpts for your outfits? Do you create all your meshes yourself? Can you sell me so-and-so sculpt or mesh?

A. I used to make something like 95% of all the sculpts/meshes used in Caverna Obscura items myself. General rule: all the clothing items like fabric folds, hoods, sleeves, collars, shawls etc. were made by myself; the decoration items like leaves, gems, shells, flowers, mushrooms are mostly made by myself as well, but sometimes if i can find very nice full perm ones on SL Marketplace cheaply (for less than L$500, rarely more) i will buy those for the time’s sake. All my sculpts and meshes are only available as parts of Caverna Obscura items, i will not sell them full perms to be used somewhere else. If you really need some sculpt for a character you are working on, i might sell/give you one as a copy/mod/no trans object. But the sculpted maps are not for sale. Since a few years i started to use much more full perm meshes in my outfits. I still strive to make it look original, usually by adding a part of my own making to the outfit. This change is due to continuously declining sales and profits (thanks to LL who keep raising fees, and declining user base), increasing amount of mesh bodies and workload.

Q. Will you rent at my mall/sim/market?

A. I am sorry to disappoint you: i don’t have time anymore to take care of rented booths. You don’t want me as your renter, really, as i’m constantly being late with paying my rent, unless you want to keep chasing me down weekly to get the rent paid… Caverna Obscura has grown up to the point where i hardly can manage everything myself and sadly, i have to figure out my priorities.  If your place has ridiculous amount of traffic daily you should definitely point my attention to this fact, otherwise your offer will most probably get lost unanswered in the bottomless pit that is my inventory 😛 If you want to offer me some space free of charge so that i won’t have to come back weekly to renew the rent, i will gladly accept. If you want to offer me “split profit” instead of rent, i will have to decline.

Q. I have won so-and-so outfit at the Lucky Board at Caverna Obscura, but i didn’t receive the item. Can you please resend it to me? ( also: I missed the Monthly Group Gift because i was on vacation etc. can you please send it to me?)

A. This kind of questions usually really piss me off! You must understand the reason why these things are called LUCKY Boards! If you didn’t receive an item even if it was your letter on the board, i guess you were not that lucky after all, simple as that! Try again, next time better! Monthly gifts are there at least for a week, and mostly much longer. Plenty of time to come and collect them! Still, if you miss it, well you can get the next one next month! 😛 But i sure am not here to provide everybody with free outfits i put so much time, sweat and tears in making! Please respect my work and don’t bother me with similar offending questions, thank you!

Q. I write for a fashion blog, can i have some sample outfits for a review?

A. If you are a blogger writing for/about an event Caverna Obscura is participating in (like Fantasy Faire etc.), please don’t hesitate to contact me for free samples. For all the others: I stopped sending out free samples. I had many of such requests in the past when i’d send several outfits for free to such “bloggers”, to never hear back from them again anymore. I have no way of knowing if they were scammers or they actually did write about any of those outfits i sent them. If they were serious and professional, i would expect them to get back to me with the final result. Thus I assume they were just freebie hunters. So i don’t send free outfits anymore. Of course you are free to buy any outfit and blog about it all you want.

Q. I ordered such-n-such outfit on Marketplace as gift to my friend but it was sent to me instead (or they didn’t receive it)! Can you send another copy to my friend?

A. If you are clearly a male yourself and have received a female outfit because you by mistake bought it for yourself instead of as a gift, i will make an exception and send another copy to your female friend. If you made a mistake having bought this outfit for a wrong person (by using their screen name instead of their legacy name for example), you should contact Linden Labs by filing a ticket. I will not send another copy to some other person because you made a mistake. It’s not my fault or my problem, we all make mistakes sometimes, sorry.

I don’t respond to trivial questions and silly questions as i simply don’t have time for this. I try to respond to the praises, thanks and fanmail but i cannot always find time for that either 😦 But you can be pretty sure that i do read them all and i appreciate it very much!! ♥ It helps to relieve my doubts about some outfit sometimes too, if i didn’t feel very confident about its design… So i hereby want to thank everyone who has ever sent me good feedback about my work and never heard from me back! 😉 ♥

I will always reply to any inquiries regarding the styling, like hair, skin, jewelry etc. in the poster pictures. I will always help you out if you have any particular problem with an outfit. You can ask me for another layer option of some part of a Caverna Obscura outfit you own, like a jacket layer instead of the shirt f.ex. But i will not be redoing the textures, or prim design: i have designed it once the way it is for a reason, and i won’t be redoing it without a very very good reason. Suggestions are welcome though, but i seldom respond to those, even if i might consider any of them, though i do read them all. 🙂
